McAfee benar-benar keteteran di tahun ini. Ia dicemooh karena tidak melakukan perubahan berarti seperti halnya Norton dalam hal kecepatan dan deteksi. Ternyata Norton baru ini pun akan dilengkapi tool tuneup! Makin lengkap aja deh.. produk keamanan favorit saya. Sayangnya, Anda akan sedikit ksulitan saat mencoba trialnya. Kenapa? Coba saja sendiri, supaya menjadi kejutan.

Apakah anda mengetahui teknologi "heuristic" pada antivirus Anda? Heuristic adalah fitur dimana sebuah antivirus akan mampu menangkap virus tanpa harus diupdate sekalipun karena antivirus mengenalnya sebagai virus melalui ciri-ciri perilakunya, bukan berdasarkan database. Namun, teknologi ini boleh dibilang "gagal" karena banyak sekali antivirus yang heuristicnya "kurang cerdas" dan sering salah menangkap (false alarm) ataupun sebaliknya, tidak menangkap-nangkap, kecuali yang satu ini...

Saya yang menguji pun salut karena mampu menyetop virus yang Bitdefender Antivirus 2010 saya tidak deteksi.
Sayangnya, performa PC menurun drastis. Waktu mengcopy-paste file, kecepatan hanya dalam hitungan ratusan kb/s saja. Saran saya, bila sedang melakukan kegiatan berat, matikan terlebih dahulu. Namun, bila Anda mencolokan flashdisk, atau berselancar di dunia maya, jangan lupa aktifkan ThreatFire. Bila Anda masih ingin menggunakan antivirus khusus namun, tidak memberatkan sistem, bisa mencoba Mamutu, super ringan namun tidak ada seri gratisnya.
